Inspect the pack
Check that the pack is sealed, undamaged and within its expiry date before opening.

Open the sterile pack
Peel open the sterile pack carefully and remove the needle and thread without touching the sterile parts.

Hold the needle
Grip the needle with a needle holder about two-thirds of the way along from the tip.

Pass the needle
Insert the needle through your practice pad, skin or tissue model using a smooth motion that follows the needle's 3/8 curve.

Tie the suture
Pull the thread through, leave a short tail and tie your preferred knot, such as a simple interrupted or continuous suture.

Finish and dispose
Trim the thread after completing the suture and discard the used needle safely in a sharps container.
