Inspect the pack
Check that the pack is sealed and undamaged, then open it only when you are ready to practise.

Remove the suture
Carefully take out the suture thread and needle, holding the needle by its body and not the tip.

Hold the needle
Grip the needle securely with a needle holder about two-thirds from the tip.

Place the needle
Insert the needle at a right angle into the practice pad, skin model or training model, following the natural curve of the needle.

Complete the stitch
Pull the thread through, leave a short tail, and tie the required knot such as a simple interrupted or continuous stitch.

Finish the practice
Trim the thread ends and repeat the process for additional stitches as needed.

Dispose safely
Place the used needle in a sharps container immediately after use.
